Courtney Baggett
Risk Management Professor, Troy University
Dr. Courtney Baggett is an Assistant Professor of Risk and Insurance in the Department of Risk Management and Data Analytics at Troy University’s Sorrell College of Business in Troy, AL. She currently teaches in both the insurance and finance disciplines.
Courtney was a NAPSLO intern as an undergraduate student and a Spencer Scholar in both 2013 and 2014. She worked as a licensed Property-Casualty and Life-Health agent for Securance Group, an independent agency, from 2010-2013.
Courtney has worked on grant projects for both the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and the Insurance Research Council (IRC) relating to tort reform and natural disasters, respectively. Her primary research interests are related to regulatory constraints and reforms, mitigation and loss prevention/reduction, business continuity, natural disasters and capital markets.
Courtney received her B.A. in business administration from Troy University, with concentrations in both risk and insurance, as well as finance. She completed her Ph.D. in business administration at Florida State University in 2016, with a major concentration in risk and insurance and support areas in finance and economics. Courtney was previously a faculty member at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. She holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associates in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI), and Associates in Risk Management (ARM) designations from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.
